less then 2 hours with the switch being down for the duration of an ini, split the cores, upgrade 0, kill the cni's to one turn then cni's to 0 back on do an ini, upgrade the second, sync the switch
Please note an OPT 11C does not have redundant cores. Your system will be down until the upgrade is completed. If you tell your user 2 hrs and get done in 1 they will be amazed. Good luck.
but that is if everything goes right. did they quote you 8 or 10 hours to upgrade. If something fails in your upgrade, then it could take that long. If everything goes well, then it takes less than 2 hours, more like 1 1/2 hours.
your vendor is going to price for worst case scenario. If you don't want to pay the big price, have them price Time and material Labor, then you only pay for the time they are there.

I agree with John. We upgraded over 60 locations this year with only 2 minor problems. When all goes well, it takes us 50 minutes from start to finish. When there are problems, the less knowledge you have the more research (and time) it takes to correct the issues.
My vendor regularly does Opt 11s with no more than 45 minutes down time.
Maybe I am just lucky and have a good vendor that does all of the prep work ahead of time.
After the keycodes have been entered in LD 143 under "Upgrade" or at the Installation Menu during the power up sequence, It usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes.
The preparation & homework is what makes a upgrade successful & that you are given a good period of "Out of hours" down time.
A "Rush job" will always for me, cause problems!.
Make sure that your ISM parameters are checked along with the packages before the upgrade is done.
Get your maintainer to do a couple of backups. One onto a hard drive & the other to a Pcmcia card.
As with all upgrades, You may need other Applications such a Meridian Mail, Symposium upgraded at the same time.
ITG line cards usually need to be upgraded.
All of these functions take time & you may find that they will take much longer to deal with that the V25 upgrade!.
That's why it's difficult to give out quotes for upgrades. I hope that this will help you.
