200r set up info

I am tryting to set up a new 200r but am having some problems, as i am new to this

I have a static IP and the dsl was on a usb , so i changed that and they have now given me a router.

Is this how it works, the dsl line goes into the router then the router goes into the WAN port, then i can plug into the firewall to get acess to the Internet etc..

The router they have supplied I cannot get access to it is set to 192.168.0.1 , so i have changed the FW to 192.168.0.254.

I have filled out the Static IP & DNS (would the gateway be the same as the static IP address ? )

I keep getting scan port attack , but the cobbection is disconnected according to the Status , but the WAN light is on on the 200r?

192.168.0.254 is not a public IP address, which will cause problems when you try to set up a VPN. Also the DSL router most likely has a simple firewall built in which may also interfere with a VPN. You will most likely need to be able reconfigure your router to get a VPN to work.

You are correct that the DSL plugs into the DSL router, which is then chained to the WAN port of the VPN appliance. Your PC(s) then plug into the VPN appliance.

On the VPN appliance under the "Static IP & DNS" settings, set the IP address to any address within the subnet of your DSL router. The Netmask should be the same as the DSL router is using. The Default Gateway should be the IP address of the DSL router. For working internet you also need to set the DNS servers to the IP addresses provided by your DSL provider.

Under the "LAN IP & DHCP" settings, you need to use an IP address in a different subnet (say 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0), and make sure DHCP is enabled and it's range of addresses is for the same subnet.

As for your "Port Scan Attack" errors, you can basically ignore them (or even turn them off). You get these whenever someone (or some device) tries to ping your IP address. To turn off these errors, uncheck the "Detect Attack" setting in the "Log Settings".

Before you attempt to do anything with the VPN side you want to make sure you are able to connect and browse the internet.

my next step is to get the VPN working to another 200r,
