I have a resident in a seniors home that had at his home a single line for his phone and a fax line with distinctive ring for his fax come in on the same home number. He has moved and his number has been ported onto the Pri at the seniors home terminating on an analogue port on the 200AX release 5.0.2.12
No problem with his home number porting on and ringing his phone with standard ring (part of all cos options in the home). My challenge is have his home number ring standard ring and then his fax number that is also ported onto the Pri to have a distinctive ring so the fax will pick up the call. It is cheaper to port than to run another line in for the fax.
I have tried forwarding a phone with distinctive ring to the resident's line but that didn't work (was a shot in the dark).
any suggestions other than run another line for the fax?
i.e
613-592-2122 home number ported onto Pri resident room extension 2122 of 200AX (standard ring)
613-592-2123 fax number ported onto Pri to terminate on extension 2122 of 200AX (distinctive ring for fax)

I believe I have a solution, I programmed the analogue extension in a cos of its own with standard ring (809) disabled and if a call to the main number of the resident comes in ring is like an admin, two short rings, then I created a hunt group with a group type of ring and added the number of resident home number and got a single ring:

613-592-2122 home number programmed as 2122 in form 9 and a cos with option 809 disabled, call to this number rings double ring
613-592-2123 fax number programmed in form 55 (2123) to go to hunt group (type ring group) i.e. 5678 with member 2122 in it, call to this number single ring

This solution has the added benefit of Fax never going to VM
