Have installed the evaluation copy of Windows Server 2003 that came with my book and have come across a small problem

It shows a icon in the task bar saying network cable unplugged but its is not and the card is working fine as my other PC can see the machine (Server01) also the server will not let Internet Explorer access the Internet, any ideas anyone on what settings I have missed as there is not much in the book on this

Thanks

You other PC can see it but can it access the server? Many times other computers on the network will cache other computer names but will not connect to them. Try to ping the server IP.

On the server have you tryed to connect to the router.

In the network connections how many items do you have there? It could be possible that you have created two entries for the networking and only one can be active.

What error are you getting with Internet Explorer?

By default, server 2003 will set the internet explorer security settings to high. This will stop access to the internet.

Are there multiple network cards installed?

Bluetooth and firewire ports will appear as network cards.
