Please Help!!!

When my users log on accross the network, a number of sessions are opened. You can see these in Computer management/shares/sessions.

It will show a one user with multiple sessions open. Yet only one of the sessions has files open. This is eating up connection licenses and stops people connecting, The only way I can see to resolve this is to clear the sessions from the server.

This must be a bug and needs fixing pretty sharpish.

Anybody help

Thanks in advance

Hmm... What licensing mode are you using? Are you using Terminal Services?

Per server mode

Only using terminal services for remote admin, not client access.

The network is only on a LAN

Ok, are you using Terminal Services when this occurs? There is a setting in terminal services to remember sessions... so if you've used terminal services in the past, it's possible that the sessions are simply disconnected...Perhaps reset the sessions. Also, is this just straight Windows 2000 Server, or SBS, or other backoffice components? Also, I suggest you apply the latest service pack, and check out the following articles:

Do you have MSMQ installed?

If none of this helps, I would search elsewhere or bite the bullet and reload the OS.

Firtsly, no we are not using terminal services only lan connections.

The domain controller is SBS but the same is happening on another DC which is just straight 2000 server

Both machines have sp2 installed

It is really confusing as to why this is happening, i could really do with finding out an answer

This is happening to me on my NT4.0 boxes too! I have ACT database located on server and one client connecting to this eats 17 licenses. I havent got this fixed either.

alexit, if you go to one of the links provided above kindly by jahlmer there is a fix you can get for nt4 from microsoft.
