How can I tell how many CALs I have in Windows 2000 SBS? When you go to Licensing - It tells you how to install additional. I know in non-SBS versions of 2000 server it will show you here under licensing. hmmm

Go to The To Do List page on the SBS Console. Go to Add Client Licenses. It finds out how many client access licenses (CALs) have been purchased and adds additional CALs in increments of 5 and 20 users.

Go to the SBS Administrator console, choose "Server Status"... in the rightmost pane click on the "About..." link.

This will tell you how many licenses are installed.

thanks for the info - for some reason MS makes it much more difficult than it should be.

How can I go to SBS Administrator console?
Can I add more licenses like W2K server standard edition?
Please help!

If you can't find the shortcut, go Start->Run... and use "ITProSBSConsole.msc".

You can add more CALs by going to that same Administrator console, and clicking on the "To do" list in the left pane, and on the right pane "Add Client Licenses" is available.

Microsoft Licensing doesn't work on SBS server. AFAIK, this is the only way to do it.

danomac,

Thanks for your great help but I still unable to find the SBSconsole. I guess that maybe I didn't install SBS console. Can you tell me how to install SBS console?

Thanks again!

If you only install the first disc, the SBS components are not installed.

SBS Server is a multi-disc set. IIRC, insert the second CD and run the installer. The first disc (from what I remember) is only Windows 2000 Server.
