Hello,

And thank you Bob for your help in my last posting! I made sure to print the auto-restart for dual boot before starting this fiasco!

So I am trying to install an English version of Windows 2000 on top of a Chinese version of Windows XP without eliminating the XP (I am in China and my Chinese roomie needs the Chinese XP). Ultimately just want a menu at startup asking to boot Chinese XP or English Win2000.

So I start to install (copy is on a burnt CD I brought that has several other install programs, so no autorun). When I get to the Win2000 directory and run the Setup.exe file I get the following error message:

"This CD-ROM is from an older version than the one you are presently using. Setup functionality from this disk will be disabled."

After that, I get the usual setup screen, but the "Install Windows 2000" button is disabled (Thank you kindly, Mr. Gates!) so I can't continue. Is there an EXE file I can run from a subdirectory to install, or is there a way I can bypass this feature so I can have both OS's on my box?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Jason

Go into the i386 directory and run winnt. That will do the setup for you. If you don't have smartdrv, it will lock for a very long time while it unzips the files. Then it will continue with the installation. Remember to install it on a different drive to XP otherwise both OSs will get completely screwed.
