2000 active directory permission question

I currently have a root(main.com) domain with 36 child(store.main.com) domains. I am a member of the Enterprise Admins group. I full access to the child domain controllers(can access the c$ share). However i don't have access to the C$ share on any other pcs on the child domain(pc1.store.main.com). All domains are in native mode. Do i have to add my user account or group to all of the local pc's or am i doing something wrong. Any help would be great.

Hi Nick,

What OS is running on the clients? Are they firewalled? As an Enterprise Admin, you should have Admin rights throughout the entire forest....

By default, Domain Admins have Full Control of the members of the domain. Try adding your account (or Ent. Admins) to the Domain Admins Group and try again.

Thanks for the quick repies.

I am a member of the enterprise admins and Domain admins groups. The client pc's are windows 2000 sp3, Not firewalled. The weird this is i have full access to the child domain controllers which is expected.

Hi Nick,

Have you ruled out the possibility of a network communication issue? Are the clients on the same or separate IP subnet? Are they registering in DNS / WINS properly? Can you ping the clients by IP?

Just trying to get more info.

Everything else works fine. I can map to any other share on these pcs, i just don't have full administrative control over them.

They are on seperate subnets, but so are their domain controller and i have full access to them
