We have two users that can't send e-mail to each other. I sent a message from one account to the other and set the Delivery Receipt to make sure the message was being sent. It immediately came back and said that it was delivered successfully. However, when we looked at the other account the message never shows up.

We are running a single Exchange 2000 server with SP3. The clients are running Windows XP and Outlook XP. I went into the Message Tracking Center in ESM on the exchange box and searched for messages between these to users. All the messages showed up. Here is the log of one of the messages:

SMTP: Store Driver: Message submitted from Store
SMTP: Message submitted to Advanced Queuing
SMTP: Started message submission to Advanced Queue
SMTP: Message submitted to Categorizer
SMTP: Message delivered locally to user@domain
SMTP: Store Driver: Message delivered locally to Store to user@domain

I tracking my messages to another user and looked at that log and it was the same.

Can any one help? If more information is needed please let me know.

Thanks

I had a similar problem once, although it was all users sending to one user during a certain time period of the day would just have their messages disappear. Turned out that the recipient user's Exchange account was also set up on a different workstation running Outlook, and whenever anyone started up that workstation (auto-loading Outlook) the messages would download to that workstation's local PST file.

In that vein, have you checked the Outlook Rules list to make sure that there's no rules applying to messages from each user?

I too have seen both of the issues as SteveTheGeek describes. I agree that it's most likely a client issue.
