Greeting
i currently have one static IP address over PPPOE connection, configuration is as follows > Modem >> linksys router >> PC's
now i just bought an additional public IP address, as i want to host another email server using that new IP address

now the ISP company didn't supply me with an addtioanl username and password for the PPPOE , they only supplied me with the IP address -- how would i do my configuration,
should i do this? Modem >> switch >> 2 routers >> server on each router ? (when i tried that the first modem didn't connect to the ISP)
or is there a another way around ?
any help or suggestion to set me on the right track will be appreciated

thanks in adavnce

The Router is what holds the Static IP, so yes, 2 routers would be needed if it does not multiple uplinks

Maybe your ISP doesn't allow two logins with the same PPPoE credentials or your modem only allows one MAC. I would suggest you purchase a router/firewall that is capable of handling more IPs than 2 single cheap linksys. I personnally use Cisco Pix 501/506 but they are hard to configure. Go for something like a Sonic Wall ... That way, you only have one firewall that connects to a modem and both servers + workstations to the firewall. BTW, is your Internet service a home account or a business account ? I have many customers that have PPPoE with single fixed IP and it works fine. The moment they need a second fixed IP, the price triples and you get a different service. Instead of DSL with PPPoE, they get a ADSL without PPPoE. They also get a nice Cisco 800 Series router instead of those cheap Speedstream modems.
