Hi

I have a setup where there are 2 win2003 separate domains (although they do share a common ADSL internet connetion which is thro a 2nd NIC in each DC and thro' a SWITCH to the ADSL line)

This has worked fine, but now I need to install another data server which can be accessed by the 2 domains.

Any ideas on the simplest yet secure way?

Thanks in advance

You can set up Trusts between the 2 domains so that they can access resources from a common server. Make the server a member server of the first domain and only give permissions to that particular server or share for the appropriate users in the 2nd domain

Thanks for that

Forgot to mention that the 2 networks are physically on 2 separate switches as well. The only common interface is thro a 10Mb Switch which the secondary NICs on each server connect thro to the internet.

I presume that the 2 primary network switches will need to be linked up as well?

It does sound like the 2 primary network switches need connected as well. Why aren't they already though?

It sounds like there's a reason the 2 networks are seprate but sharing an outbound internet connection. There must also be a reason that the DSL is isolated from the rest of the network.

besides doing the extrnal trust you can just connect the two separate switches togther so that you can see the two domains setup the new file server on the one of the domains and share the folder
