I have installed a second hard drive to increase my storage space. I want (have) to keep the cd drive d: for software purposes. I tried to re-letter the second hard drive (without software) with just Win98 without sucess. Any suggestions?

There's a place for a reserved drive letter.

I haven't messed with that for awhile, but I think you can specify the cd drive letter there and the harddrives will work around it. You will have to experiment and see.

Regards.
