2 exchange servers on new domain

We are moving our Exchange servers to a new 2000 AD network. Our main server is Exchange 5.5 on NT, the second is 5.5 on Win2000. The mailboxes have been moved to the 2000 server, but the MX record is still pointing to the NT server. What we need to know is if Active Directory Connector (ADC) will work with both servers (NT and 2000) and if there are any problems connnecting the existing mail accounts to the new AD accounts.
