Hi there,

I am setting up some servers at a local school, they have 2 domains one for staff and one for students. The Staff domain will be trusted by the students domain. If they were different subnets then you create a secondary dns zone from each domain for name resolution, but how is dns configured if you use the same subnet?

[thumbsup] for any help [pipe]

I believe you would use the same zone and same site.

Are the two domains Parent and child or are they non contiguous?

The number of subnets is irrelevant. The two domains are two separate zones (unless they are parent/child). Therefore, you still need to create a secondary zone for each domain's primary zone.

domainA needs a secondary for domainB. domainB needs a secondary for domainA.

Hi there,

Yeah they were completely separate, I had to install this at the weekend, and created the secondary zones, I think I got confused because of reverse look up zones where it has the subnet address. It all works fine, thanks for your help.
