Our company goes by hartadvisers.com and everything is working fine with my exchange server for all email addresses xxx@hartadvisers.com.

We also have bought the domain hartadvisors.com. Now I'm trying to setup my exchange server so it will except mail from hartadvisors.com or hartadvisers.com.
I have both a records setup to point to my exchange ip address. I have my mx records pointing as follows.

hartadvisers.com points to mail.hartadvisers.com
hartadvisors.com points to mail.hartadvisors.com

I also setup in Exchange system manager - Recipient policies added @hartadvisors.

Something is still not working. Does anyone know what i am missing here? TIA.

Sorry i guess i didn't make that clear. When people send to xxx@hartadvisors.com its not coming thru.

Has the RUS actually populated the SMTP addresses of the users?

On the SMTP inbound connector, have you set it to accept both domains?

In the mx record, does the second domain Hartadvisors.com need to point to mail.hartadvisers.com or mail.hartadvisors.com????

The MX records for both domains should point to the public IP address of your exchange server. For example:

DNS records for hartadvisers.com
MX 10 mail.hartadvisers.com - > 192.168.1.1 (example only)
MX 20 smtpbackup.yourisp.com - > 0.0.0.0

DNS records for hartadvisors.com
MX 10 mail.hartadvisors.com - > 192.168.1.1 (ie same as above)
MX 20 smtpbackup.yourisp.com - > 0.0.0.0

So both domains have an MX record that point to the SAME public IP address. By the way; in doesn't matter what the Fully Qualified Host Name of you MX record actually is. What matter is that it points to the correct IP address (it could be mail2.hartadvisors.com or mymail.hartadvisors.com. it is the DNS record type (MX) that makes is the Mail Exchanger for the Domain).

Now, once each domain has an MX record pointing to the correct IP address and exchange is set to Handle all mail for both domains AND a valid email address exists for each user for each domain then you should have no problem (assuming you still have a NAT policy and Rules on you perimeter device still in place).
