I recently bought a new computer with NO floppy disk drive, and I have a bunch of pictures on floppy disks. I still have my old computer and have it hooked up, but now I remember that it wont do anything at all. I turn it on and I have to push F1 to continue, and then an error comes up.... the title is EXPLORER and it says:
Explorer has caused an error in BROWSEUI.DLL Explorer will now close. If you continue to expirience problems, try restarting your computer.
Then I click close and it is just a blank screen, no icons or start bar or anything! I just want to get the pictures off of it, is there anything I can do? It originally had Windows 98 on it but right now it has millenium. I have the Windows 98 disks still if that helps. It doesnt matter what I do to it since it is already fried, so any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

You want to get your pictures off. But you have them on floppies. Sounds like you already have them off.

If you would clarify what you really want to do somebody will be able to help.

Well I was hoping on sending the pictures to my email or something then putting them on Cds possibly, but I cant even get that computer to work at all so I was just wondering if I should put 98 back in or anything that it will just work enough for me to get to pictures and send them to my email so I can get them on my new computer.

Yes, it would probably be best to try 98 back on. But that is a 2 hour exercise in frustration if you have to do a complete wipeout and reinstall.

There would be other ways, like networking the machines to do it after the 98 is back on, and always the possibility of pulling the floppy and installing it on the new box. Even though they are leaving the floppies off, generally the FDC is installed and all that is lacking is the floppy, the cable, and a setting in the CMOS.

Have you got a friend who has got a floppy disk drive and a CD burner?

If you like a bit technical work, you could consider putting the harddisk of the old pc in the new one and trying to recover your data there...
