So, here's an odd one... *long post*

I have several campuses... all using 1760Vs with a fairly standard setup....

WIC 0 - 10BT-ENET
WIC 1 - 2 port FXO card
VIC 0 - 2 port FXO card
VIC 1 - nothing

I also have the VPN Module and upgraded to 96 megs of ram

On ALL of my 1760Vs, I use c1700-k9o3sv8y7-mz.123-14.T2.bin IOS revision.

Here's the weird part

Two of my six 1760V routers do not allow the caller-id command when inside a voice-port

See below:

Here's my show ver from one that DOES NOT work

Cisco IOS Software, C1700 Software (C1700-K9O3SV8Y7-M), Version 12.3(14)T2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4)
Technical Support: Copyright (c) 1986-2005 by Cisco Systems, Inc.
Compiled Thu 12-May-05 00:56 by hqluong

ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(4r)XL, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

PHX-1760 uptime is 3 hours, 26 minutes
System returned to ROM by reload
System image file is "flash:c1700-k9o3sv8y7-mz.123-14.T2.bin"

Now, I conf t... then I go to voice-port 1/0... then do a ?...

PHX-1760(config-voiceport)#?
Voice-port configuration commands:
battery-reversal Enable FXO battery-reversaldetection
bearer-cap Specify the bear capability
busyout Configure busyout trigger event & procedure
comfort-noise Use fill-silence option
connection Specify Trunking Parameters
cptone Configure voice call progress tone locale

---

No caller-id...

NOW, heere's the strange part...

This next one DOES work...

See that? identical C1700-K9O3SV8Y7 and c1700-k9o3sv8y7-mz.123-14.T2.bin

See that? caller-id is an option now.

Same IOS. Same hardware. Same everything as best I can tell... I'm confused.

If you see anything that I don't see, please let me know...

What would cause the caller-id to NOT show up as an option?

Check us out on the web ... ...

You must have different versions of the VIC-2FXO modules. The part numbers of the ones that support it are VIC-2FXO-M1 & VIC-2FXO-M2, the other FXO VIC's do not support Caller ID (VIC-2FXO, VIC-2FXO-EU). I think the newer VIC2 modules support Caller ID (VIC2-2FXO & VIC2-4FXO).

Ahh... I didn't even think about that... So, to use caller-id I need to have the M1 or M2 version of thhe 2FXO card?

What's the quick way to find out what the model number is of my VIC card?

The main problem router is 1000 miles away.

I found the answer ...

show diag will show you the modules installed including part numbers.

You are right. I just have VIC-2FXO (no -M1) on that router.

Thanks for the tip. Star for you.

I was going to log on to a router this morning and check out the command for displaying the hardware. I thought 'show diag' would show you information but I wanted to be sure. Since you have already foudn this out I won't look on my router.

Thanks

Andy
