Hello
-overall problem is voice quality-

Here's a rundown on what I've done to fix this ongoing "buzzing" or "ringing" that has plauged this router for almost a year.. I've added memory, upgraded the IOS, changed my QoS policy to be LLQ from DSCP, got two brand new VIC's from cisco, and about every troubleshooting posiblity you can imagine..

The cards in this router are DID vic's, and they are the only cards in this router! The sounds is constant when call comes through it. it's like a constant "bbiizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" in the background. Now both parties can still hear each other and have a conversation, but it's just frickin annoying!

The really strange part is, it's only one of the voice cards that are making the noise. AND, to make it more interesting, there's consistantly more noise on one port on the card than the other port on that same damn card!!! I don't know what else I can do to eliminate the noise..

My routers a Cisco 1750 using IOS 12.2(15)ZJ2 I've been through 3 Cisco TAC people and I'm just not getting anywhere..

Anyone got any clues??

Snoots,

If you have changed all these items I would think the problem may be associated with the wiring or some other external factor associated with the router vic ports. The cables connected into the ports, what sort of distance do they run?

If you swap them around does the noise seem to move with the cable?

Other factor may be to do with earthing the circuit correctly, I recall these have a protective earth and a telecom earth. Can you provide some more detail on the VIC port cable connection, port type etc?

The cables are no more than 10 feet long coming from the DMARK, and even then they don't appear to cross anything that may cause trouble..

When I swap the cables, the sound remains the same on the problem ports, yet the other sound ok.

The port connection? Like the actual style of the port? I believe it's an RJ11. Four of them.

What is the part number for the card your using?

here's the clip from my router.. looks like part# 800-03279-04

Is there a bug with this part maybe?
