First off, what other WIC cards has it recognized---other WIC-1ENET cards? Also, what do you mean that it does not recognize it? On boot, do the boot messages state that there is an unknown card in WIC slot one? And where did you get this WIC? Was it brand new, or used, advertised as out of a working router?

Any idea what is the problem?.

Thanks in advance.

Try switching the VPN module with the WIC-1ENET and see if it then recognizes the enet card, but not the VPN. The IOS is plenty good and up to date---a very slight possibility it's corrupt. I'd bet you have a screwed up WIC slot. Actually, plug the enet card where the VPN mod is, but do not plug the VPN mod in the other slot, power it on, see if it works, then keep the enet card in and plug the VPN mod in.

Burt

Hello
If you haven't already tried!Put the "WIC-1ENET" in Slot 0 of the router.
Regards

Minue---the error occurs when he does this---look at the "sh diag" output---it shows the unknown WIC in slot 0!
