Hello

I have a problem with two 16xx phones locking up/stops responding after a couple of days. The display only shows the extension number, and doesnt respond to any keys and doesnt have dial tone. Have to pull the plug to reboot it.

This happens to both (and only) IP phones connected to the IPO. (One 1608, one 1616 with 32 button module), both using local powersupply. After a reboot, they work 1-2 days, sometimes 3 days, before they lock up again. The two phones does not lock up at the same time.

They are connected to the IPO over a VLAN configured on the switches. Both phones connected to the same switch (2 ports set up in a VLAN with the IPO on another switch).

At first I used static ip for the phones, but switched to DHCP as I know the phones tend to restart if they loose the network connectivity when using DHCP. IPO runs as DHCP, no other devices on this VLAN. Problem is still here.

If the network is unstable, both phones should freeze at the same time? (And reestablish connectivity when it works again).

Firmware 1.22 on both phones. IPO with 5.0.8.

Any tips for what to look for?

Forgot one thing:
In System Status the phones show up with IP 0.0.0.0 when they freeze.
(And Telephone type: POT (CLI OFF))

And:
I can ping the phone from the IPO through Dialup, it responds, but doesnt register with H323 to the IPO. (After it freezes).

What ipo do you have ?

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Can you try 5.0.15 ?
There are some problems with 5.0.18 and a 406 but maybe it works for you.

I can try tomorow.
(How long does it take to load new software using a 64k dialup?)
No chance on getting onsite here.

I have no idea.
I always upgrade on site or with a server that is local.

When it freezes run monitor with default on, it will show register attempts and reasons for not. I only saw this a couple of times, 1 where the network switch became slow and unresponsive, turned out to be a network loop, the 2nd was the LAN port on the ipo was intermittantly faulty. Both phones freezing not necessarily at same time can happen. Can you get the phones and ipo on the same switch? Can you also switch from lan1 to lan2 or vice versa?

Cant get phone and IPO on same switch, they are located in different buildings. I only have dialup capabilities here, so I have to keep an dialup with monitor up for 2-3 days to catch the register attempt. (And Im not too happy about that).

Finished the downgrade to 5.0 (15) now, gotta wait a couple of days for the result. I can have someone switch from LAN1 to LAN2, but ill wait at see the outcome of the downgrade first. Theres no computers in this VLAN at all, so I cant install Monitor locally either right now. I might do this later if theres no other option.

Still no lockup of the phones now, so the downgrade to 5.0.15 looks like the trick. Ill have to wait for the weekend and 2 days of no calls to be safe.

Still looking good. Thanks for the tip about downgrading, seems like this solved it!
