I have tow problems:

Problem A 1608i phone is picking up the wrong extension. How can I change the default extension. Mute functions don't appear to work. I have ipoffice set up for this phone to be base extension 3810 extension id (8012) but the phone comes up as 38103810 which I found on the system under extension>base extension. I corrected this and merged the changes. I had the phone rebooted several times but still comes up as 38103810 and if user trys to log in as the correct extension they are getting invalid password// There is no ext 38103810 on the user or ext screens however that's what I see in the system status monitor...helppppppppppppppppppppp

Problem b one of the 1608 I phones is stuck in a loop trying to load the latest software. started happening all of suddeen and now just continually reboots...do I have to send back to avaya

Help im in ip office purgatory all day

You corrected the extn in programming but didn't tell the phone it was 3810. My guess is somebody registered the phone as 3810 and typed it twice. With auto create turned on, you will just get whatever crap is put into the phone. ie 38103810!!!!

When the phone starts, hit * to program. (Password either blank or CRAFT). press the # key as many times as it takes to get to "Enter Command". Then depending on firmware either MUTE CRAFTCLEAR or MUTE CLEAR then #. This should ask to rest all values and start again. It will take the phone back to factory default to start again.

Your software load issues could be lots of things and proabably needs more visability of your system and network so get your support engineer onto this.

Look on support.avaya.com under 1600-series for the Product Support Notices. There are issues with specific releases of software which can result in unrecoverable phones.

Create a user 38103810 and merge, it will be logged onto station 38103180.
Then on the phone press MUTE LOGOFF # (MUTE453522#) or MUTE CRAFTLOGOFF # (MUTE16127453522#) and the phoen unregister from IP Offic.
In the diaply you'll see "Phone=3810310" now delete the number and enter the correct number 3810 then press "NEXT" or # twice. Done.
