1602 w/ RJ-45

Have a 1602 with a build in 56k CSU/DSU serial RJ-45.
Can I connect the 56k CSU/DSU serial to a cable modem. Will that limit the link to 56K or how best to utilize this port?

Nope. Completely different interface. I wouldn't even try it, you'll probably damage something. You can, however connect it through a hub if you don't mind having 2 subnets on your network.

now on the ethernet port of the router put 2 IP addresses
int eth 0
no ip address
no shutdown

int eth 0.1
description To Cable modem
ip address x.x.x.x m.m.m.m

int eth 0.2
description To Lan
ip address x.x.x.x m.m.m.m

Then set up your NAT & firewall access-lists.
