Hi Guys,

finally got my hands on the 16 series handsets for our dem kit. got one of each.

having some grief with the 1608

406 v2 on 4.2.11 192.168.42.1
My laptop running manager (with manager patched) 192.168.42.100

Http server set in system to 192.168.42.1
TFTP server set to 192.168.42.100

Everything just plugged straight into the front of the 406.

the 1616 and 1603 are fine, took firmware, logged them in, no problems since.

but the 1608 is in a loop, it takes the firmware, logs in as an extn (but doesnt work, just displays correctly) then reboots and tries to download the files again.

then when i reprogram the phone it has always "forgotten" the file server address, a quick call to our tech support said this needs to be the Lan1 address, which i set it to. then it resets it to 0.0.0.0

fudged phone?

Have you tried a firmware load from a different version - this may be an error in the 16xxupgrade file

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

We have tried setting th PC address as the HTTP and the TFTP, and combernations of the IPO being the TFTP/HTTP server...

MattKnight, how would be do that, i think there is only the one version of the upgrade file... please correct it i'm wrong and we will try that.

In effect, downgrade the manager to 4.2.4

set your HTTP server as the IPO the TFTP and file writer address as your pc with manager (4.2.114801).

On the phone, Your router, File server and call server address's need to be the IPO.

Unfortunatly AVAYA's instructions regarding these phones are not clear.

The rason the phone gets stuck in a loop is because its got the wrong firmware in it.

Also although the 1603's and 1616's come straight up you'll find most features will not work as they need to update the firmware as well.

>We've been advised that it will only work on 4.2.11 by the supplier

Ooops

We were using a field trial build when we were using 16xx phones...

However, the 4.2.4 manager contains the 16xx firmware and 16xxupgrade.txt files, which whilst it won't make the phones operate in speech mode (due to licences) may well upgrade the phoens to a level where the 4.2.11 firmware will upgrade correctly.

When I look the 16xxsettings file for 4.2.11

I can't see any mention of that file in the 16xxsettings, which makes me wonder....

However, I'll shut up now...

This one worked for us...

HTTP server as the IPO
TFTP as your pc with manager (4.2.114801).
File writer as the IPO

On the phone, Your router, File server and call server address's need to be the IPO.

This has worked for us....

Worked fine for me, yesterday i've upgraded 30 1608's using a win2k3 sp2 server with 2 scopes, hp poe switch(2 vlans) and MV_IPTel tftp/http server. The only problem was the when you've logged in the phones start to reboot after a few seconds. The problem was that the where no CA keys, on the 46xx/56xx the are always 3 keys.

alright chaps, i was off on friday but looks like i missed a lot.

all handsets have 2 CA keys, set through user rights

Ahh not the old user rights scenario, try copying values from user rights rather than making them a part of a user rights group. As I have found (as have others on here) that certain buttons assigned through user rights do not work properly. They should but sometimes they just don't.

lovely, cheers for the heads up. ill try it when i get a chance.

i thought user rights were supposed to make our lives easier?
