Hi Guys,

finally got my hands on the 16 series handsets for our dem kit. got one of each.

having some grief with the 1608

406 v2 on 4.2.11 192.168.42.1
My laptop running manager (with manager patched) 192.168.42.100

Http server set in system to 192.168.42.1
TFTP server set to 192.168.42.100

Everything just plugged straight into the front of the 406.

the 1616 and 1603 are fine, took firmware, logged them in, no problems since.

but the 1608 is in a loop, it takes the firmware, logs in as an extn (but doesnt work, just displays correctly) then reboots and tries to download the files again.

then when i reprogram the phone it has always "forgotten" the file server address, a quick call to our tech support said this needs to be the Lan1 address, which i set it to. then it resets it to 0.0.0.0

fudged phone?

Why have you set the TFTP and HTTP to a different IP address?

ACS - IP Office Implement

cos the docs said to

Dont have a HTTP server so acording to the bulletin for the 4.2.11 release you need to set the HTTP address as the lan1 address and the tftp server as your manager address, then the ip does the conversion and delivers the files to the phones as http

thats about all they say tho

Use MV_IPTEL instead of manager... then you can just dump the files in the correct directory and all is cool...

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Do you have a CF card in your ipo with the files ?
Otherwise the phone can not pull the files
If you have then you can set the tftp also on the ipo adress

No need to use two different adresses

interesting...

so the docs are wrong?

from TB99

To support the 1600 series telephone on small stand-alone IP Office sites, or systems with low numbers of IP Phones, IP Office can implement an HTTP to TFTP protocol converter. This allows the 1600 series telephone to operate without the need of a separate HTTP server.

The system can also be configured so that the IP Office relays the HTTP requests to a PC running the Manager or other TFTP server application. This is done by setting the HTTP Server to match the IP Office control unit LAN1 IP address and setting the TFTP Server IP address to the PC running the Manager or other TFTP server application. A maximum of 5 1600 series telephones can be supported in this configuration

Matt,

I have downloaded it, docs are a bit light.

only thing i have found is to dump the files in here:

c:/Program Files/Avaya/MV_IPTel/data/HTTPdata

then restart services?

anything else i need to do or will it just respond to requests?

Go to setup and check if http is set on port 80 or 81
I am not sure but i think it is on 81 on default !

nah, i gave the phones static addresses as there are only three of them

As far as i can remember that is about it...

Set the http server in manager to the ip of the MV_Iptel server

and check the TFTP directory (to support 56xx phones)

The 56xx also use http and is quikcer then tftp so you do not need tftp if you only use ipphones

But still no answer on my question
Do you use a CF card ?

no joy,

dumped all of the firmware files i could find in the tftp http and https directories.

phone is still in a loop,

i see Boot ha1608ua1_010.bin

then

HTTPS: 1
HTTP: 1
Then HTTPS: 1 -905

then no filevr address

then it shows me extn number date time etc but phone is unusable,

then it starts all over again

Try using tftp and http the same adress
I really think you need to do that

SNAP....

We have the same problem, we have got a few things back from the supplier, gonna try them in a little while.

So fingers crossed...

Last resort is to use a http server on your pc/laptop and manualy enter all settings

Give the pc/laptop a static ipadres
Give the phone one in the same range
Set callserver and http the same as your pc has
Then it should pull the file
Then try to see if it works then
