Hi All.

I have an Avaya 1220 sip phone which I wish to connect to an IP Office.

It boots just fine, showing the 04.04.xx software, and I have created a sip user / extension. However when I go to log in, using either the user name or the extension number it says "Logging in..." and never goes anywhere.

I have checked the settings on my phone and they seem to all be correct, pointing at the right places.

Any ideas?

Regards

Hi...The SIP phone will always show extension even if not connected to a PABX. It seems that it is not seeing the IPO. Check to see if the VLAn info is correct

Hi Takst3r.

I went, for giggles, and put a 1230 sip phone on the system (I had a spare running around), and it registered just fine. After a minute or two, it came up no problem.

The settings on it and on the 1220 phone are exactly the same. Yet the 1220 stays at logging in user (extension number).

I have compared the 1220SIP.cfg and 1230SIP.cfg I have moved from the manager to the ip office, and they are exactly the same. I have the 11xxsettings.txt, 11xxsecurity.txt and 11xxdialplan.txt on the ip office as well.

It makes no sense to me.

Regards

Do you see it trying to register in monitor with SIP filters enabled?

Hi there.

No, I don't see it trying to register; the 1230 that I configured, that has the same software, logged in just fine, and I can see it talking.

The 1220 doesn't use any other files than the 1220SIP.cfg, does it?

I've noticed the phone looking for a flie system.prv. Could that be something?

Regards

At the end of the day they are Nortel phones, try asking those folks for some clues :)

I forwarded this thread to an Avaya IP Office support team I have in Canada who were able to get 1120E, 1140E, 1220, 1230 all working on my IP Office.

I posted all of the settings from an 1140E on my settings, see the attached photos please. I uploaded them in order of scrolling down on the phone interface.

If none of these setting help, you might want to try factory resetting the telephone.
those instructions can be found here.

Hi RLSButton

I will give this a try and advise.
IF it doesn't help, then I will tell the Engineer to talk to his folks, which was suggested above.

Hi RLSButton.

I have configured my 1220 SIP phone as shown above, and still it goes to logging on, and hangs.
I have put it back to Unistim, and then upgraded again to SIP, same thing.

The only thing I seem to see is when the phone is loading, I see a entry go flashing by the says system.prv failed message.

I think I am going to open a ticket with avaya, and see if they can tell me what I am doing wrong.

When I have a solution, I will post it...

However, if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know...

Regards

The Avaya Nortel SIP phone integration expert is named Bill Kahn and he is at Featurecom in the Toronto area. I can't post phone numbers here but look the company up and ask for him. He will be available after 10am this upcoming Monday. He is out of office until then.
