We are getting this error on our 1120E ip phones and neither the phone or the PC connected to it work. It is only occurring with one segment of phones which makes me believe it is a network issue but i need to be able to pinpoint the cause. These are running on a HP 3500yl switch that was recently installed. Kinda wanna point to the switch but i am not to sure. Has anyone experienced this before?

If you plug a PC in and you don't get a network connection, it's network

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS AND AVAYA

The switch is not responding to the LLDP request from the phone.

The phone needs the proper VLAN information from LLDP before it can continue it's configuration sequence.

It is definately the HP switch. (also the last thing introduced before problems started).

Or better yet, if you haven't rebooted your phones lately and actually applied patches your phones could have downloaded the new phone firmware upon reboot (after POE was lost to the phones when the HP was installed to replace your old POE switch) which allows LLDP and by default it is on so your phones are just trying to use LLDP - they will still work without it but you will have to go to each phone an turn it off in the menu config. :( Unless you have a TFTP server and config files for your phones.

We had this same issue with rebooting some phones and the 'new firmware' wanted LLDP configs.

Figured this out. Older versions of the firmware have an issue with HP switches. We did firmware upgrades and we haven't had any problems since.
