I am looking for a free 1099 excel spreadsheet for typing and printing onto official 1099 forms. No one has typewriters anymore. If someone has one they could email me I would appreciate it. Or, if you know where I can get a simple one on line. Most are more complex for importing large amounts of data and sending electronically. I just need a typewriter.

Tried googling a result for you, but whilst I didn't find a template, I did find these comments in response to someone else looking for the same thing - Might be worth bearing in mind if it hasn't changed:-

That's how I read it, too. And even if the OP finds a template, will the IRS accept a printout
of an Excel worksheet rather than the official form? I doubt it...

For 1099's I don't believe they will accept even a photocopy of the IRS
printed form, I think because because the IRS printed form is designed
to be magnetically read.

There are substitute forms that you can run and issue to clients for the
099's -- well at least some of the 1099's.

The Copy A being sent to the IRS -- if you dont file electronically or
magnetically has to be originial -- you cant even get a pdf form to send to
them.

They get you coming and going!

I think what Orica is looking for is a template where you can type in information and print the results onto the 1099 form with all the numbers lining up in the right spots.

Ah, but I just looked at the IRS site.

Orica, Skip is right, look at the site - there is no need to use Excel. (Hint - click on one of the 5 links in the top left corner)

to what are you referring? I have clicked everywhere and find nothing relating to this issue.

There are .pdf's of all forms that you can fill in on line, then print out.
