1010 Dialing is Blocked But Carrier Says Calls Getting Through

We recently changed carriers on our long distance T-1s and we also PIC'd our local trunks to the new carrier. However, we started receiving bills from our old carrier on one of our local trunk groups. The bill is carrying a "dial-around" charge as though we dialed 1010XXX to reach their network. I've tried to dial through the switch manually with 1010XXX and been unsuccessful as this is blocked. Can the switch actually insert those digits on some calls automatically without the user dialing it? And if so, can it do it when it is denied in my dial plan? This is a huge cost issue so any help is truly appreciated.

look at the route patterns and see if it is being incerted there.

Try looking a the IXC page by typing disp IXC; Sample Below

INTER-EXCHANGE CARRIER ACCESS CODES

IXC Codes Assignments (Enter up to 15)

CDR IXC CDR IXC
IXC access IXC access
code number IXC Name code number IXC Name

1. 10456 LDDS Worldcom 9.

3. 1010288 AT&T 11.
4. 12.

This might be your mystery

Another possibility is that the PIC change didn't happen correctly. Is there a pattern to the 'leaky' calls--are they all 'local toll'? Are they from misc. POTS lines, or your main trunk group?

Ed, How does the Avaya switch use the IXC table?

Possibly find a number that was dialed on the phone bill

then do "list ars route-chosen (number here)"

That way you can find the route and then look at those route patterns..

Wouldnt a simple 'list trace station xxx' show how the calls are dialed?

MultiVantage, Intuity Audix LX

IXC numbers begin with 1010, followed by three digits, plus the number as it is
normally dialed including 0, 00, or 1+ 10 digits. These numbers are set up on your
default translations.
Remember, the user dials 9 to access ARS, then the rest of the number.
Instructions
To see how your switch handles a call to an IXC:
1. Type display ars analysis 1 and press ENTER.
The AAR and ARS Digit Analysis Table screen starting with 1 appears.
This table shows 5 translations for IXC calls.
When you use x in the Dialed String field, the switch recognizes x as a wildcard.
The x represents any digit, 0 - 9. If I dial 1010, the next 3 digits will always match
the x wild cards in the dialed string.
Use the ARS digit analysis table shown above and follow the routing for an IXC
call to AT&T. 1010288 is the carrier access code for AT&T.
— A user dials 9 1010288 plus a public network number.
— The switch drops the ARS FAC (9 in our example), looks at the ARS Digit
Analysis Table for 1010, and analyzes the number.
— The switch matches 288 with xxx and sends the call over route pattern 5.
Restricted area codes and prefixes
Certain area code numbers are set aside in the North American Numbering Plan.
These numbers are 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 877, 888, 900. You need to
specifically deny calls made to area codes 200 through 900 (except 800 and 888).

Hope this helps

Not to nit-pick, but CAC's are actually 101 plus a 4 digit carrier code. the '1010' sounds catchy, so those with 3 digit codes do seem to have an 'advantage'.
