Recently, after boot up it can take up to 10 minutes for my TP to open a progam. WHen task manager finally opens it indicates that there are no applicatoins running and hte only process that has any CPU activity is System Idle. While the machine is sitting with no activity on my part the CPU usage jumps between 10% up to 34% like the clicking of a clock. I haven't added any software other than MS Office 2003.
Any inbsight will be appreciated.

Sorry for the delay.. Easter etc.
1. How much RAM do you have? - 320
2. Have you tried disabling indexing services? - yes
3. Have you scanned for spyware via AdAware, SpyBot or some such tool? - yes, found 6 items that normally show up
4. Have you gone to ibm.com and updated the bios and other files for your Thinkpad? - done at time of reformat
Have restarted a few times and it seems OK at the moment, Thanks

How much room left on HDD? Down load "bootvis" and run. XP runs much better on 512m memory. Every so many re-boots, XP checks and re-aligns the program boot up sequence. Bootvis just does it faster and at your command.

Will try bootvis
