Hello All

I have a big problem to backup / open / dir one sibel directory on a Windows NT Server

Anyones knows if NTFS has some number of files limit ( 1 directory )

Is taking a lot of time to open using explorer

and took 1 hour to ran a dir command prompt yesterday

Under NTFS the maximum no of files is about 4.2 billion, so you're not reaching a limit here. But it does make sense that it takes long to a directory search (especially using explorer) when you have that many files.
What application is generating these files (did you say Siebel?), you may want to talk to them since most of these files could be purged I am sure.
Also you may want to take a look at increasing the amount of RAM in your server to help offset having to page to disk since this operation (dir lookup) will swap to disk considering you have that many files. It would also help to make sure that your volume is not heavily fragmented. Hope this helps
