1 Exchange Server - 2 Internet Domain Names 1

Hello

we are a small company with about 30 users and 2 domain names abc.com and xyz.com.

We currently have a permanent connection to the internet and use a ISP POP mail and DNS.

We want to host a Exchange server with both domain names and have half our users send and receive mail with "abc.com" and the other half "xyz.com"

We will continue to use our ISP DNS servers and they will host the MX record to direct mail to our server.

Is there a problem using both domain names on a single Exchange server?

What is the best way to configure the server to do this?

No problem with two domain names on one server as long as both MX records point to the Exchange server.

You will need to add the second domain name into the Internet Mail Service! (configuration - Connections - IMS - Routing).

and then you need to add the relevant SMTP address to the user mailbox - located in E-Mail addresses.

By default, only one SMTP address is configured when you add a user mailbox - does this change to display both when the IMS is re-configured with the other domain name?

No Graham it won't. You can set which domain is the preferred one for new mailboxes in the system attendant config.

You just manually change each persons address to the correct domain and it should work.

Notice the sneaky "should"....Exchange Server blah blah...
