0x32 ver 6.1 Programming erased? 4

We had an issue with a UPS that our MICS 0x32 with a PRI was attached to, and when the power was brought back to the system, the programming seemed to be erased. From our limited knowledge of the system, we determined that we can not re-program the T-1 Card in PRI mode as it seems to have lost that ability (lost PRI enabler key??). This system has been running with the PRI for 2 years prior to this with a number of power outages and never once did we need to re-program the system. Is it possible to lose the PRI enabler key? Is there something going on here that we need to worry about?? I have a Programmer coming in this morning to check out the T-1 card and see if that is the issue, but from what I can tell this should not have happened.

PS, according to the CO, the T-1 line is fine.

for whatever reason that your KSU defaulted it also changed the software System ID. get the System ID of the ICS again (feature **266344 software keys) and get the system ID then go back to your vendor and have them get with ITAS and recover the keycode (you may need the authorization number for the PRI enabler also)

The system id might not have changed, do you still have the 24 digit pri code? If so try to re-enter it and see if it takes. Your system could have default and lost all programming just like if you had fone a **STARTUP but the system ID would stay the same. If it did change or you don't have the codes written down somewhere then you'll have to go the route that jerry mentioned.

Yea, I finally found the original vendor who setup the system and sold us the T-1 Card, Timing Card, and PRI enabler. They said they don't have the key code or the documentation. Am I right in thinking that we will have to buy a new Key code? And on a side note, To avoid this situation of total loss, can I use a FastRAD with NRU10 and backup all of this programming (including the enabler key) to a file?

look around your phone room or files for thel original docs. you might get lucky

If not then Yes you would have to get a new key code

you can do a backup with a fastrad to keep the programming (note: if the System id changed this will not help with the keycode you have to have it written down)

another backup off the fastrad that is very useful is the excel workbook download. this has an area you can enter the keycodes as a reference.

Two years is a long time for documents to hang around. I've been searching, but I still haven't even come up with the invoices for the equipment.

Could a dead T-1 card cause the programming to re-set? The new vendor was suggesting that they bring a new card and the programming would come back?

On the NRU, I've tried the excel method before but it only worked one way (reading), there seemed to be some issues with the Macros.

I believe jerryreeve's first answer is correct. If you explain the situation to Nortel's ITAS, they will help you get the original keycode back and no need to purchase a new keycode. In other situations, ITAS has helped me get the original key code back. good luck.

The DOC your looking for is the Authorization code, the vendor can renter this number into the KRS system on the Nortel website to retreive the key code for your site.

Open the bottom tray of the KSU, some techs shove info in there.

Have vendor check emails if they had somebody else activate the code for them.

Thanks, but alas we ordered a new key as the old vendor could not tell us where the Key was purchased, and we have no records available to us regarding the transaction. We could not wait any longer as the call volume is too much for our backup systems. Thanks all for your help, The PRI and the hardware is now working, and they are finishing re-programming the phones so they will be live shortly. I plan on doing a backup of the programming when all is settled in case this happens again.
Is there any idea why this could have happend?

Things take a toll when this happens and brownouts can do more damage.

If it's not too late, before they reprogram everything, reset the time and date, pull the plug on the ksu, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. If it comes back up Jan 1 1999, then at least you know what you'll run into the next time you loose power.

Also, any honest tech will always leave keycodes with the KSU, as curlycord said. Make sure this one does.

Well The system is backup, Thanks for all the tips. Just some follow-ups...
RikRodgers: When the system went out, each subsequent reboot of the system, regardless of how long the power was out, kept the date. I'll do some further testing after I'm sure I have a proper backup of the configuration. As for the Keycode, the new installer was reluctant to leave it with us, but did because of our situation (and charged us plenty for it).

Curlycord: We believe that the UPS that the system is currently on is starting to flake out, and we will be replacing it soon. It was rare that we had a power outage that brought the phone system down, but there was more than once when a storm out lasted the batteries and we had to pull out a gas generator.

Anyway I may open another Tip for this question, but in the process of doing a backup and restore, is there anything I should prepare for? I would like to do a dry run of this situation to prepare for something like it in the future.
