I'm attempting to help a friend with their computer and I'm at a loss as to the cause of the problem as I've never seen this before in Windows XP.
Whenever we attempt to install drivers, software, (almost) anything, we get program hangs and end up having to quit the program. This is primarily impacting their usage of USB ports as all USB periphs are asking for drivers and none want to install correctly. This is not a fresh install of the system, but according to my friend, it was working just fine prior to a week ago (fine, but not perfectly is how she put it). These errors typically crop up when the system attemps to work with the registry.
A little searching around only pulls up the error code in relation to large backup systems which she is not using, or Windows NT/2000, with no reference to XP.
Anyone have some thoughts on this issue?
Thanks in advance!
