Hello Everyone,

I am looking to change the 0 button and who it rings to for an executive. All phones on the switch are set to ring at the operators extension at the main operator console. Is there anyway on the executive's phone to have the 0 button ring the executive's assistant rather than the main operator console? The phone is a 6408D+ set.

Thanks in Advance

I have an intuity audix system.

In Audix, use "cha sub XXXX" (where XXXX = executive's extension) and put the EA's extension in the "Covering Extension" field.

why not set up a busy indicator button with the assistants number on it?

Perhap's I'm not understanding the question - are you trying to change where a caller is routed when they press "0" when they are connected to an individual's VM? Or are you trying to change the destination when the individual dials "0" on their own telephone set?

I believe you are talking about the zero out from voicemail because the system typically defaults to the operator if there is no covering extension entered.

That means each executive would need to specify the extension for their administrative assistant. You would follow SFO751's instructions...

"cha sub XXXX" (where XXXX = executive's extension) and put the EA's extension in the "Covering Extension" field.

The Executive wants to make things complicated for me and I guess pressing a softkey with the assistant's extension assigned is too complicated. He wants to pick up his phone press 0 and have it ring his assitant. I tried changing the covering extension field to the assistant's extension, as stated in SFO751's post, but it is still ringing at the main operator console.

It is not possible.
LordOfTheRings (IS/IT--Manageme) suggestion is the best one I think. That is
"why not set up a busy indicator button with the assistants number on it?"

Many telephone adminsters are now charging the users for programing. If a user wants programing changes or other information, then their division is charged for that. Even investigating whether something can be done is charged to the department. The tends to lessen the chance that a person calls requesting abnormal assistance.

P.S. For the best response to a question, please read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx system & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Be aware that if u don't answer a question, I usually will not continue to help u. Please leave a post on how u fixed the problem too.

Thanks for your replies, I will go with LordOTR's post.

Thanks again!

This actually can be done. However you will need ot setup tenant partitioning on the switch so that the executive and the assistant are in a seperate partition from everyone else. You would then need to do some administration to make sure that everything else works correctly between the two partitions.

The old guy pipes in with a auto intercom. This will make it better. The Boss picks up his phone and presses the auto intercom button. The admin will get a different alert on her phone and Bob's your uncle they are talking "Hello MRS Swinggins"

I stand corrected. From what I have read the tenant partioning could make it so the 'assistant' could be the zero destination for just the 'executive'.
"Tenant Partitioning provides advantages to both the telecommunications service
provider and individual tenants:
n Shared resources offer enhanced services at lower cost to the tenant, with
increased profit for the service provider.
n The tenant has the appearance of a dedicated DEFINITY ECS without the
expense.
n All tenants can have attendant services."
