In the end we decided not to bother with the 3002. there's not really any need for it when we have the other kit in place. To get around the ipsec problem I have with that client, we're using the...

I want to plug four 56k modems into my Windows 2000 Server, and have them made available to clients on my NT4 lan for individual dial-up use.
These modems will be connecting to private sites, only one user at a time will need them, and the connections will be outbound only, so I don't think I...
I have to upgrade a windows 98 laptop to xp pro. It has an external cd drive (which i have the drivers for) but no floppy drive.
I am trying to do an in-place upgrade, but it fails each time as it can't find the external cd drive.
Is there any way I can store the drivers somewhere (maybe in...
Sounds like you've got outlook set to use word as your email editor. Try testing how outlook starts up without using word for this by going into tools, options, mail format, and then unchecking the box to use word as the email editor. then restart outlook and see what happens.

Are these extra tasks being executed? You could have a look in the file 'SchedLgU.Txt' located in the WINNT folder on the server. This is a log generated by Scheduled Tasks, might come in handy to see what is going on here.
I would also check the properties of each task to see what account they...
You might be better off using Partition Magic to just resize the OS part of the disk & share out the space you gain accordingly.
You'd need to remember to leave enough free space on the OS bit for the paging file though.

Like you I have also decided to implement SUS at our network, and found myself a bit stumped by the lack of idle Win2k servers.
My solution was to put win2k server onto an old 550mhz laptop - seems to...
Firstly, apologies to mods if this is in the wrong thread.
Just after some quick advice really;
I am setting up SUS on a new Win2k server, and about to go round and make the registry alterations to our clients. I will set the desktops to update at 3am, but don't know what to do about the...
This thread is the most relevant to my situation that I have ever found.
Does anyone know if there is a forum/list that deals with newbie admin stuff?
Not just 2000 server info or what-have-you, but general best practices and advice.
Try checking out the local permissions on each server.
If you added the user into particular groups when you created the account, the local permissions on each box may be set up to handle those groups differently.
Hi all,
I have a backup script that runs using NTBACKUP every night on a W2K server box.
There is only one tape drive in the machine. All I want is a simple command that will eject whatever tape is in the drive. I do not want to have to specify physicalmedia id, friendly name, GUID, any of...
