I have a number of Cisco 2651 routers for which I want to have a backup of the config. I have installed Solarwinds tftp server on my laptop. I have started a hyper terminal session to the router. When I issue the command: copy run tftp: and then supply the IP of the tftp server and a file name...
I have set up a reverse DNS zone on our 2003 server. The forward zone lists all the host and IPs. Should I see a similar list of hosts in the in-address-arpa zone? I don't ever remember this, but my boss insists it should be there. Thanks.
This is a surprise. We are using a NAC box and it wasn't resolving in the list. Now several days later, we have most all the workstations listed by name.
But now to an additional DNS question: my boss says that the in-address-arpa zone should list all the hosts in the smae way as they show up...
The watchguards make a for a inexpensive filtering solution. We will probably keep them. And yes, we have a scope large enough for both the domain and workgroup computers, which are all on one happy subnet.
Preference would be to run DHCP out of AD, but the only way the Web filtering on the Firebox works is if it does the DHCP. Sucks. We may have to go with a staic DNS address on the clients to override the one from the firewall.
We have a network that is composed of several domains and workgroup computers. Not all names are showing up. DNS is configured for AD integrated and both secure and non-secure updates. We are not using netBIOS resolution. Any thoughts as to why not all (probably the workgroup computers) will not...
We have a portal server that I want to set up with our wildcard GoDaddy certificate. We were told that it will not support wildcard certificates. My boss isn't buying this and wants me to inistall it. I am on shakey ground on both Oracle and certificates. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Thne X55e seems like a fantastic solution! But what seems to good to be true.......
The Firebox perports to have the ability to support 2 WAN connections in either failover or load balancing. Well we can't make it work. But the real problem is that Watchguard has neither the ability to correct...
My bad! You are right brianinms. But my question should have referenced port 53 traffic if no in-addr-arpa zone is configured. We are trying to run high schools through a small wan pipe and the dns is across the wan. I have the concern that not having this configured may contribl;ute to...
Thanks Cory,
I know what reverse lookup does, but my concern relates to whether the absence of this zone would contribute to arp traffic on our network. Thanks.
When I started at my new position,I found that DNS was configured without any reverse lookup. What impact does that have upon our network? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
One of my client XP computers is not able to access links from the home page of our website. This client receives an error code 64: host not available. This is the only computer with this problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
I work at a school and need to empty student home directories at the end of the school year. Is there something that will accomplish this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Does anyone know of a test I could perform to determine whether my RPC is being blocked by the front firewall (which I do not have access to), or by a trust of system rule in my back firewall? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
One of our recipients has been having an issue recently with replying to emails from outside our organization. The message and reply ends up in the drafts folder. Does this sound like an issue at our end, or at the other end? any thoughts on this woould be appreciated. Thanks.
I want to be able to have a measure of an XP machine with no load and then another with applications running. How do I do this so I can have a report of this? Thanks.
I have a ISA 2004. It is set up as a back firewall and I also have SurfControl on this 2003 std. server. My event logs identify that RPC to my domain controller fails. As such, group policy is not applied and the computer is not recognized in AD. It is on the same subnet as our DC. If I set ISA...
Thanks PRPhx and B4db0y,
I found the answer. Here is what it turned out to be. The image was made on a different (60MHz) monitor; The Dell monitor wanted 85MHz. Once we set the resolution to 1024x768 and got the right MHz, all was fine.
I am hoping someone might know a fix for this problem. I recently created an image for which we will be ordering new PCs. I did not have the 17" monitor that is part of the system, and used another 17". Now, with the system monitor, the desktop has a border of black around it. It can be changed...
