There may be another USB card available on Ebay... The card installed, the system recognized the card, the OS loaded. I powered up the USB drive, the server abended. I guess it is time to buy a new server. Thanks again for your input.

So you feel that the USB card would not conflict with the array controller like the eSATA? I think I will still need to enter system utilities to configure the slot. Correct? The drive I have will do USB, and I can handle the speed issue. I just don't want to foul anything up. System halted...
Thank you, with the card removed, it will boot normally. But if I launch utilities, shut off the power, add the card, restart, will it boot directly to utilities, so I can configure the card? I know that if I try to boot normally it will stall-1706 error.
Hello all- I have a Proliant 3000 server running Netware 6.5. RAID 5 array. It runs fine, I need to add a SATA adapter card. I installed the card, (PCI), then restarted the server. BIOS recognized the card, the boot process continued, it started to scan for SCSI devices and then generated a...
We have EnGenius DuraFon4X on MICS 4.1 and ATA2. We can transfer calls to the cordless, everything seems to work fine. We can't seem to access features. We key Flash *<code>, but all that we get is either dialtone or busy. ATA timer setting is default 7, setting is same on Flash timer for...
I once had a beeping server. The beep was due to a failed drive in the RAID. Nothing to do with the OS. Rebuilt the array using the drive utilities, beep was gone.
Something to look at...
Thanks for your responses. SLP is not configured here. I tried to logon again, this time I waited maybe to get an error message. After about three minutes or so, the logon process finished normally. I shut down and restarted the machine, logged on. This time the wait was only about thirty...
I have one workstation, Win XP Pro SP2, Novell Client 4.91 SP4. When the workstation boots up, the client logon window appears as normal. The user enters username and password. Next the "results" window opens showing the user attaced to the server, but the logon process freezes. Using task...
Hi All-
Using Consoleone, I set up a basic groupwise system. One domain, one post office. At the time of set up, I added four users. I installed the client on the four users workstations, and all appeared to work fine. I added four more users using c1. These users are not recognized. The...
Continuing on, I first uninstalled the Novell Client to remove its influence (fast user switching etc.). I then tried to change the profile imagepath key. This created a new folder with the username I wish to remove. There must be a way to eliminate this problem short of reinstalling windows...
I set the value to the desired username. After your post, I went back and tried the original name, and administrator. All yielded the same result-in the client logon box, the key value username was supplied, when the "workstation only" checkbox was selected. Deselecting the box gave the...
Thanks for the link. I edited the registry as instructed by the TID. The windows login box shows the correct username, but it will still not login. Only when I revert to the username from setup will it login. There must be a registry key overlooked in the TID creating this. Any thoughts...
When my company buys new computers, they send them to me for setup. I run windows setup, when prompted, I enter the users name, and add an administrator password. The username is not password protected. I then install Novell Client, activate or install any needed applications and send it off...
I have two netware servers in two different states. Each has its own tape drive. Can I administer a backup job on each server from one location, backing up each server to its own tape? What would I need to make this happen.
Thanks
To clarify- I have two separate locations, each with its own server on a single tree. I am upgrading now, eventually we will link up.
Yes, I also found the directories you mentioned. I've got enough space now. Thanks again.
Marvin-Thanks for your input, I took that step back, read all my error logs and launched my attack. Rebuilt the schema (fixed all but three errors) did a vrepair on sys purging deleted files, ran dsrepair. All errors fixed. Ran deploy manager, passed ok for upgrade. Started the upgade, but...
