Nope. No changes in BIOS. But, here'a another piece of information...
Everytime I restart the computer and it fails to start, when it finally does start/post--usually after numerous tries and waiting a while--that's when I again get the "cpu is unworkable.." message. If I just restart out of...
O.K. When I boot up, I get the following message: "cpu is unworkable or has been changed" followed by "hit f1 to continue or del to enter setup". The computer will not boot into windows unless I hit f1.
Also, sometimes after shutting the computer down and then trying to restart it, it won't...
YES!!!!!!!
Tears of joy. Problem solved, baby!
What I did:
1) Uninstalled the printer under ADD/REMOVE programs
2) Ran sysedit
3) Deleted the above-mentioned lines and saved changes
4) Rebooted comp.
5) Reinstalled the printer.
What this fixed: a)no printer config error message when I...
O.K. Number one. I got the line deleted. To clarify, the line I changed was in the "system config utility" box when you run msconfig. I did it by rebooting into DOS and running "scanreg", and then just restoring the registry to yesterday.
Tsuji, I have no idea what wspload.exe is. I going to do...
Now proven....I don't know WHAT THE HELL I'm doing.
Went into msconfig. Under win.ini tab, windows section, this is what it said:
load=WSPLOAD.EXE
run=
device=Canon i850,CJPDRV4B,LPT1:
So what did I do?
I unchecked the device (because I'm having trouble with my printer...see "invalid vxd...
Now proven....I don't know WHAT THE HELL I'm doing.
Again went into msconfig. Sections you asked about...this is what it said:
Win.ini
[Windows] section
load=WSPLOAD.EXE
run=
device=Canon i850,CJPDRV4B,LPT1:
-------------------------------
System.ini
[Boot]
Shell=Explorer.exe
So what did...
TEKTIPPY4U
1) I tried the shut-down isolation thing...no dice. It gives me the same shutdown blue screen with just explorer.
2)msconfig
win.ini tab
Device=
Envoy 7 Driver=ENVOYE7,ENV:
Canon i850=CJPDRV4B,LTP1:
Load= NOTE: no such file under win.ini tab
Run= NOTE: no such file under...
Alright, back to square one again. Just searched the net and found out that the boot log "failures" aren't an issue.
1)ndis2sup.vxd
If the network driver interface specification (NDIS) 2 support driver does not find any NDIS 2 drivers to support, the driver is not loaded...on purpose...
Downloaded the boot analyzer and under "shown failures" it says:
LoadFailed=ndis2sup.vxd
INITCOMPLETEFAILED=SDVXD
Dymanic load failed naapi.vxd: [000D0C3D] File not found
So, I think we're on the right track here, BUT, if these are load failures, what do I do about it now? Does this require...
Thanks for the replies, guys. Still haven't figured it out yet. I did the regedit thing...searching for an EMON line...no dice. Nothing that looks like it. A bootlog analyzer? Know the name of any of these? I usually get stuff like this from cnet.com/download.com. If I go there..what should I...
Safe Mode: Yes...and the problems don't occur (predictable because the drivers aren't loaded in safe mode). Ran systemreg scan and "no errors" found.
Delete printer drivers: Well, I totally delete the printer via Add/Remove programs and reboot. I'm pretty sure this would get rid of the loaded...
I'm desperate..turning to you guys for help. Here we go.....
First, when I bootup in Windows (using Win98SE), right before it finished loading everything, when it's almost finished, I set a REDX message from Windows saying that I need to run the printer setup again because my printer isn't...
Travis, thanks, man. That works a lot better. The box still appears when you click on the image, but it doesn't stay there--disappearing as soon as you let go of the mouse button.
NOTE TO OTHER POTENTIAL POSTERS: If anyone knows how to prevent the box from appearing at all, please post.
If...
The MouseOver/MouseOut method I'm using involves creating a false "a href" link...."#"...then, later...."OnClick="false return". This works well enough until a person clicks on the actual pictures. I'm using round gif files with transparent backgrounds to hide...
