Restore the "Jobs" in Backup Exec

Thanks Steve. I needed to do a bit more than that, but you put me on the path, so you get a star. Just in case anyone happens upon this post, this is what I did: 1. Redirected restore of the Veritas folder 2. Copy all of the files from the restored Catalog folder to the new Catalog folder 3...

Restore the "Jobs" in Backup Exec

I recovered a server, but did not restore the Veritas folder in Program Files because I have had trouble with Veritas after the restore in the past when I did. Consequently, I would have to rebuild all of the Backup Jobs. This is obviously getting old and time consuming, so what seems like a...

Tapes ejecting before the backup runs

I can think of three possibilities: 1. The tape is bad. Try re-labeling (i.e. erasing) it and trying again. If you can't, it's dead. 2. The drive needs cleaning. 3. The write-protect is set on the tape itself. Move the write protect switch and see if it works. hth

exchange server for only some internal users

Our company is virtual...no office. We use pop3 email hosted externally. I just setup an Exchange server (SBS 2k3) internally at my place so that I can use GoodLink (see:this-is-so-freakin-hot). I have setup the pop3 configuration manager to download my email and push it to Exchange to make the...

pop3 connector AND leave a copy on server

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Exchange server is configured to automatically download pop3 email via the pop3 connection manager. Exchange server then erases the email from the pop3 server by default after it downloads. Clients connect to the Exchange server internally, usually. I...

    Pix isakmp password Recovery

How does one delete the tunnel in the cli? I tried "no isakmp ..." for a specific line, but that didn't work. There are two tunnels, and I don't want to delete both and have to drive several hours to a router with no remote access capability. tia

    Blackberry Vs Treo

I manage several Exchange Servers, some using GoodLink, some using BlackBerry. I prefer GoodLink hands-down both from the user side, and from the sysadmin side. Most of my clients who use GoodLink receive email on their Treo's before it hits Outlook on their desktop. Additionally, GoodLink...

    DHCP randomly stopping

The DHCP service is randomly stopping on my server. No other services stop, and everyone who already has an address connects to the server fine. The service stops about once per week, on random days, at random times. I searched several forums and MS, but did not find any references. TIA for...

Routing problem on VPN client to PIX

I am having a similar problem. When my VPN clients connect to a pix 501, using the Cisco VPN client, they get a LAN IP, but the gateway they get is the same IP. For example: IP Address 192.168.1.200 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.200 I cannot figure out how to change this...

Gateway IP same as host IP

I have a Pix 501 to which people connect via the Cisco VPN client. On the LAN side, the server is running DHCP, and gives the Pix LAN IP as the gateway and everything works fine. The Pix runs DHCP only for VPN connections. When people connect to the VPN, they get assigned an IP from the Pix...

allow login for specific machines - doesnt work

If you specify the two machines in the DMZ AND a machine inside the firewall, can they logon to the machine inside the firewall, but not the DMZ'd machines? How do they authenticate to the DMZ'd machines? Through a web browser, or just accessing the machines across the network after...

grant local admin on Windows 2003 server

For all those who care or didn't know, in Windows Server 2003, adding a user to the builtin/administrators group gives the same effect as local admin without the consequences of being locked out of certain Exchange features. I do not believe that this was the case in Win2k Server, and certainly...

grant local admin on Windows 2003 server

Update: I got past part of this by adding the user account to the Server Operators group. I now need to give the user Logon as a Service privaledges, which I did in the Default Domain GPO, but it is not taking effect. I also edited the GptTmpl.inf file, but that didn't fix it either. I am so...

grant local admin on Windows 2003 server

I have granted them specific admin priviledges for Exchange, but I need local admin priv's to install and run the program. I did fix the "...can't logon interactively...." issue. I need this account to have local admin priv's, though. I have granted all admin priv's, incl. logon locally, logon...

grant local admin on Windows 2003 server

I want to do the equivalent in Windows 2000 where one would right click on My Computer>Manage>Local Users and Groups, then add a domain user to the local Administrators group. I have a program that accesses Exchange, so I cannot add the user account to Domain Admins, etc. because it will...
