Why is it that whenever I check my email that it now opens mail from BOTH addresses? It use to open only the proper one. I do have it set to save a copy on server for me to open them all again at home. Could that have anything to do with it? I looked in the help part on OE6 but did not find...
I have an associate whose company is using OS X on their Macs. They have heard and seen of a lot of incompatibility issues with web hosting for Mac users. Can someone suggest a major host who is capable of working with the latest Mac OS?
It was only that the Western Digital HD should have had the jumper setting to CS rather than master. Did the change and bingo...we were off to the races! Thanks to all for the education and info. It pays to check out the HD site for details.
The mobo is a Aopen Ak77-333. The hard drive is an older one, 8/2000; It is a Western Digital 153AA (15.3GB). The HDD is the only thing that is used.
As for your question, The XP cd is in the CD drive going through the "determine your system configuration" when it comes back saying...
I have assembled a computer (novice level) and at the boot it says "boot from ATAPI CD-ROM ...no emulation...press any key to boot from CD....invalid system disk...replace the disk and then press any key". THE END. The power and cables are just like the other one that works so I will...
There is no reformatting with XP until it sees a hard drive This is a used HD; could that be the problem? The Bios sees it but not the OS. Also, what would make the floppy light stay on green? The CDRW seems to work fine.
Linney, I did neither one as this is a first for me. I would prefer to format from the XP disk. I'm going to read the MS documents you linked. I'll post something later after reading, etc. Thanks.
I am trying to load XP onto a new computer. The BIOS see a hard drive but XP stops loading because it says it can't find a HDD. I have checked cables and power, both are good. Anyone tell me how to got OS to see the HDD?
I am trying to load an OS on a new computer. The BIOS sees the HDD but when I get the XP loading it says that it did not see a hard drive. I have checked cables, power and both are good. What can I do to let XP know that there is a HDD configured to go?
U know Ben, I can't say for sure because the room is rather noisy with several big printers. I will listen closely tomorrow. scandisk has shown nothing out of the ordinary.
When i am doing work in ANY program there is an occasional stop for about 3-5 seconds for what seems like a "catch-up". It then works freely for a few minutes. I am running win 98SE, athlon 1000, 512 Ram. I am not taxing any component that i can see. I would like a reason and...
thanks for the advice. I am planning on getting the cpu soon I will be sure to get a copper based heatsink in either case. My concern was mainly that the model 6 was NOT suitable for the mobo..and there is no problem there.
I have tried the MS site for specific help and can't get to anything i can easily understand. I got this message "APP2 caused an invalid page fault in module PMCORE.DLL at 0167:006 cab4f". Any interpretation is appreciated. It would be great if there were a site which would let me...
I want to get an Athlon XP 1800 CPU but the compatibility chart for my Aopen AK77-333 mobo suggest getting model 8 of the CPU. There is no mention of this model number on any specs. I did see on their site (AMD) that their is a model 6 and 8. Anyone tell me which is which?
Whenever the monitor is idle and the screensaver is activated the scandisk function starts. I am using win 98SE if that helps. Where would I tell system to not run scandisk without instruction? As soon as I begin use again the scandisk stops and the work goes on.
