Thinkpad 390E
I figured it out. I removed the drive from device manager and let plug and play find it while it was empty. Now it is always there when I boot up regardless of type of disc that may or may not be in the drive.- RBlackwell

I don't I just usually have one in there. The music CDs are the ones that allow the TP to "see" the drive. Data CDs don't register.- RBlackwell

Hello, I own a Thinkpad 390E and have a problem I've not read about anywhere else. When I boot up with a music cd in the Thinkpad it recognizes the drive just fine, however if I try to boot up with a data disc in the drive, the drive does not show up in My Computer or in Device Manager and I...- RBlackwell
