Ok i have exchange send all emails into a public folder that I have locked down to the owners of the company. Not a big deal, easy setup.
On their outlook 2003 (desktop) they can open and reply right from the email. They can see who it came to and from what sender email.
BUT!!! here is the...
Any reason why you are using netware and QOS?
I removed QOS on the XP machines.
You don't need WINS, DNS will work fine without WINS.
I was having the same problem... and I was pulling my hair out too.
A few things to maybe check for:
1. Did you update to the latest service packs on both...
I got it to work now!!! finally after 4 months.
I disable 802.1x authentication on the XP pro clients.
I removed the XP built in firewall.
I updated to SP4 on the server. (I found a HUGE problem with server pack 4 with single domain names and having multiple DC's) Apparently MS doesn't like...
Are you using ASP, CF? I know if you run PHP in IIS you can access the MySQL databases that way. If you want IIS to direct;y access your data then you would probably want to use ODBC.
microsoft keywords:
kbWinXPpreSP2fix kbbug KB810907
I now know why I couldn't find this on the MS site. Does anybody have an idea when this SP will be coming out? One other thing, I never knew that a 64bit version of XP was available...

No it shouldn't, i'm assuming it's 2000 pro? You can change the name at anytime.
He are some things to look out for:
1. If there are other computers mapped to this machine using UNC (//computername/share)
2. If you have static entries in the DNS server for this computer
3. That no other...
Does it log into the domain locally or remotely. Do you have a local DC at the remote office? I had to set up a local DC in order for the logins to be quicker and so it doesn't take up bandwidth.
At the users local office does he/she have a problem login into any other machines?
I still think...
static (inside,outside) tcp <outside IP> 5900 <inside server address> 5900 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0
This will forward all request to port 5900 to inside IP address 192.168.0.10:
static (inside,outside) tcp 206.118.72.54 5900 192.168.0.10 5900 netmask 255.255.255.0 0 0
Llets say you have 2...
Actually a roaming profile can take longer on some machines than others. So yes a roaming profile can be the cause of it, if they were roaming profiles.
I exprience it everyday.
The reason, One of the users use a P4 512megs of RAM and a SCSI 10k drives. he needed an computer upgrade so we...
I tried that but the problem is I have 80 machines and if one of them is off. You will get a pop-up with an error and you must click ok before it continues to shutdown the other machines.
does he have a roaming profile?
His roaming profile might be huge...
But anyway. check the profile size and like gabe036 said try deleting his local profile from the machine and having this user log back in
John
You assign this policy to one of the activty directory folders. I have it setup on one of my cleints network.
The users hate it b/c they don't do their job and when they are actually working the computer is locked and they have to keep typing in their username and password.
lol
Fun Stuff

A client of mine asked me if he could click on an icon on his desktop and log all of his client off the network.
The facts:
1. All clients are windows 2000 pro SP3.
2. Server: Windows 2000 server
3. A single Domain, all client are joined to the domain.
4. All clients are in the same logical...
can you ping the server?? i know it's a simple thing? try a continues ping and check the cables.
I have problems with XP and DNS issues. it would take 15 minutes to log in and sometimes it would say the domain wasn't available. I installed WINS and configured DNS and it works like a charm...
John
Don't do it..... I did a simple 50-client upgrade and now I have all kinds of problems with XP, I should have stayed with 2000 pro.
Losing network mappings, that nobody can figure out why. Working offline and files getting corrupted when they to synchronize.
My 2 cents
John
Is it only 1 machine or do you have a domain with a policy?
You can have all the machines lock after X minute of idle time. So people don't go looking into other peoples' machines.
