How do you set up a new HD without any special disks?

You can use fdisk to partition it then format from DOS (assuming that you have a DOS boot disk).

Trying to add 4th computer to network

You might try accessing the router and under DHCP make sure that there's enought DHCP users assigned.

What is the connector standard for power/HDD light to motherboard?

If the case connector has only two wires you need to remove one of the connectors and move it over to the middle slot. You have to be careful. I used a sharp razor to cut the plastic housing and remove the connector.

    Multimedia recording in win2k

Remove EZ-CD from the above post. That only worked with W98.

    Multimedia recording in win2k

I use MusicMatch or EZ-CD creator to do that. I'm supprised that sound forge doesn't have an option to let you write to the hd.

How do I move programs listed on the program menu

Go to the drive where your OS is loaded. Select the Documents and settings folder. There should be 3 folders (all user/default/your user id). Select one (probably All Users) then select Start Menu then Programs. You can cut & paste from there.

Cloned Hard Drive will not boot.

After installing the Fujitsu as your master (boot) drive you may need to run fdisk and set the drive to active. I'm not sure if cloning the drive will make it active.

    Installing Hard Drive

I always install drives with the label facing up. There could be a twist, in the cable, between the connector on the MB and the connector to the first drive. But it shouldn't be twisted between the two drives.

Using a Second Hard Drive as a Backup

It does make the backup/restore much faster. I'm not sure how the RAID card works but it seems to write to two drives at the same time. If that's the case and I install software that causes the system to become unstable I would not have a stable backup to restore since the second drive would...

New HDD set up question, please

Sorry...I kinda got ahead of myself. You do need to run the utility disk to setup the drive. That will format and create the partition. When I was referring to partitioning the drive i was referring to creating logical partitions on the drive vs one large partition. When a drive has one large...

Using a Second Hard Drive as a Backup

I would use ghost to create an image (gho) file rather than cloning the second drive. as you said, if the first drive crashes you will need to change cables and jumper and make the drive active. By just creating an image file you will just have to install a new drive and restore the image file...

New HDD set up question, please

For your purpose the drive does not need to be partitioned and should already be formatted. So it should be good to go. When you partition a drive it does lose a little 'usable space' but not enough to be concerned about. MBR=Master Boot Record. It's only on the boot drive. You need not concern...

    New Hard drive installation

Is the bios detecting both drives? If nothing was done to the original drive try disconnecting the second drive and see if the OS is found.

New HDD set up question, please

If it's new it should already be formatted. If its not, there should be a utility disk that comes with the drive that can be used to format it. It's much faster than using fdisk.
