Press alt+contrl+delete,click new task,type in dialog box control panel.Click o.k and your icons and task bar will appear.Don't know how to fix this just know how to restore icons and such.

This happened in XP version of windows.I did the alt+cntrl+delete thing and went to new task and put control panel in the dialog box and puufff the Icons are back and all.But this is just a quick fix.

Ran the registry and explorer.exe is correct.I failed to mention that not only icons disappear but also start button and task bar disappear,right click does not work on desktop.Online scans come up negative.

Ran panda online scan,stinger,and x-cleaner no malware or virus detected.

When starting computer no desktop icons appear.No virus detected ran adware and sysbot.To get back icons Alt+ctrl+delete to new task,open control panel boom my icons appear every time.

Safe mode black screen.Type in new task explorer.exe nothing.Type contol panel and icons appear and regain desktop,reboot and reverts to blank desktop.

There is no start menu nada nothing.I checked in Task manager under processes and there is no explorer.exe.Is the file corrupt.

Start computer no icons,start menu,right click.I can do an alt+control+ delete and get to task manager that's it.Mouse works and so does key board.
