I finally managed to do it with help from:
http://www.addbalance.com/word/datefields2.htm
It worked to take my template, open the VB editor, choose the ThisDocument for my template, create a Document_Open(), and add the lines:
Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToBookmark, Name:="PrevFriday"...
A miracle has happened!

The date formula would be ideal. (I need a very similar result, like the other Max who started this thread.)
How can this be done to show the calculated date in a Word document? I have been trying a few different ways over the past few days but so far without success.
Any suggestions?
Max...
Thanks Fumei and Leslie.
Unfortunately, I'm still not getting it. Whether I try it as a regular field or as a form field, whether I use a macro or not, and whether I use d or "d", I still get a syntax error and no visible date.
I am obviously missing some crucial step(s) that may be...
Thanks Leslie.
Actually, I wasn't using a form field but I am now.
I changed the document to a template, created a macro, and added added a form field to the template. When I try to use it, I get a syntax compile error for the line:
" DateAdd(d, -3, Date) "
Do you know what I'm...

Yes it was your response in the other thread. That thread was from a guy who was having trouble with his icon text showing up bold and italic.
Thanks again for the information Wolluf.
Both DeskColor and WatchCat do exactly what I wanted.
An interesting thing about WatchCat is that its colour effects remain even after the application is closed and seem to continue until the machine is rebooted.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I also found out from another thread (that somehow wasn't returned in a search) that WatchCat does what I wanted by default. I already used W'Cat occassionally but now I will make it start automatically on login.
I think that I will still try DeskColor.exe though...
Hi all,
This thread does not come up when I do a keyword search on "desktop icon", "all words", and only for this forum. Can anyone out there please explain to me why this is so?
Max
Hi,
I would like to keep the names of my desktop icons visible but not have a background box behind that text with the Desktop Background colour such that these boxes obscure areas of the wallpaper on the desktop. Basically, I would like to have it look like the names have transparent...
