Actually yoyu shouldn't go as far as stopping your IMC and NAV for exchange service. All you have to do is to switch your NAV for exchange from mixed mode (MAPI/VAPI) to just MAPI mode and that will do the trick.
You may try to create a pst first then move or copy the content of your public folder to this pst file. Then from there export your pst file to csv format.
