OK, thanks. Uninstalling Acrobat Reader v6.01 and the v6.02 update, rebooting, and installing Acrobat Reader v7.0 fixed the problem.

IE6 on WinXP won't display PDF files

One computer here at the office will not display web-based PDF files using Internet Explorer 6.0. The same file from the same website displays properly with other computers. Instead of displaying the PDF, the IE browser displays the little box with the red-X. The PDF file is associated with...

"Out of Office" Assistant, Outlook XP 2002

Found the answer on the MS website...here's the procedure: You can use the Rules Wizard to automatically send reply messages to certain people even when you're not running Outlook. So, when you're on vacation and your computer is turned off, you can still send custom replies to messages from...

"Out of Office" Assistant, Outlook XP 2002

Task: For two weeks while I'm on vacation, tell Outlook to send a reply to all incoming messages. Problem: It works fine for internal mail for all users on the Global Access List. But it doesn't send a reply if the message comes from outside. (not one of our Exchange Server users). Any...

Black Dots on screen go away on zoom

Thanks for your comments Gary. You're right, the dots don't print. This is not a big problem but one of these days we'll change monitors to see if the black dots still appear. I bet they will. And yes, it's probably a bad video driver or the video card itself is slowly going bad.

    Accessing archive.pst file

Try this: Copy his archive.pst to some Win98 machine that has the "Corporate" version of Outlook 2000. Create a profile on it to include his Exchange Server account. Then see if you can File/Open the Outlook Data File archive.pst.

One Win2K workstation gets a license everyday OK from FLEXlm but now we're having difficulty with the second workstation install. Where can I find accurate and complete documentation on...

Black Dots on screen go away on zoom

With AutoCAD 2002, running OK for months on one of our Dell computers, we now see little pixel-size black dots on any drawing. Zoom in and the black dots disappear. Close the drawing, open another and black dots appear in various places. Zoom in, dots gone. The number of dots vary from one to...

User Profile Corrupt...need to restore it somehow

The actual process of creating the mappings only takes minites if you remember where they were mapped to. The system is used for programming in Focus with many drive letters mapped to another computer with lots of sub-folders. We also just discovered that the Outlook 2000 .pst and/or .ost files...

User Profile Corrupt...need to restore it somehow

The system is a member of our workgroup at home (telecommuters) and we have been able to copy Favorites, MyDocs, etc. but have lost all the drive letter mappings. Yes, we can re-create them, it may take hours, but there really should be an easy way to retrieve the info or a back-up file somewhere.

    ActiveSync and Outlook 2002

Before installing Microsoft ActiveSync my connection from Outlook 2000 to Exchange Server 5.5 was quick with Send/Receive operations. Now with ActiveSync and the new Outlook 2002 every Send/Receive task takes minutes to complete. Anybody have ideas on how to speed-up this old simple task for the...

Windows Installer launches when opening Word or Excel

Yes, problem fixed. Zoey, you're the man with the solution. But it's not necessary to delete the folders after the un-install. In fact, if you have other MS Office apps installed like Visio or FrontPage, definitely don't delete the Office folders. In my case, after re-installing, re-booting, and...

Windows Installer launches when opening Word or Excel

My old Win2KPro machine, that runs the Office Installer every time Word or Excel is loaded, has been "retired". The Office "Repair Utility" offers no help on this situation. The problem is too annoying and apparently requires a re-format and re-load of both Win2K and Office...
