Depends what you want to do with it!!!
For games etc it's fine, if you're a real recording buff then you can spend upwards of a grand just on the sound card. Gav

Create the accounts as 'users' (not powers users/standard users). This, by default, will not let then install or uninstall. The alternative is to create a group policy on the machine (or better on the server if networked).

Generally you won't have a problems as long as the cable is protected from the elements. A well sealed PVC duct will do nicely. It's probably worth running a second cable at the same time while you have the chance. You never know what you might want to do in the future.

We're trialing XP for a roll out in my college, but we don't want Outlook Express available. We've already sorted out the Messenger problem but OE is trickier. The only option we can find at the mo is to remove IE6 altogether and re-install without OE. It would be nicer to just un-install OE...
OR....
Edit file C:\windows\inf\sysoc.inf
Find the line: "msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7" and delete the "hide" leaving the commas. This will return messenger to the add/remove windows components.
Also works with other 'hidden' windows components.

Even if the res was too high, POST results come up in 640x480. The monitor would only ping once Windows loaded the graphics drivers.

What program fails to install?
Does the CD-RW appear with a drive letter in Windows Explorer?
What burning software are you using?
Some thing to try...
I've had issues with Iomega CD-RWs that had to be setup as slave not master. It might help.

fdisk will not run well from Windows. In fact you can't make any changes of the type you're trying on the partition that you're currently using, hence disk cannot be locked. Go with the dumdum and use a boot disk to delete the partition. Converting C: is a cinch in NT, but I'm not sure how 95...
Have you tried them with any other OS? If they're still broke, I vote with the error and take em back where they come from.

The ps/2 splitter is a valid configuration on a laptop Ed, however KVMs aren't often as smart as we'd like them to be. Unless it can properly replicate the kb/ms when you're not switched on to the other machine it may not recognise them at boot. Or even worse, the input devices can time-out...

For the record there are lots of PIII boards out there without AGP. Ask anyone who ever bought a Tiny or a Time PC. mATX is the curse of upgraders all over (although some are more generous than others).

hmmm. Is 300W enough for an MP board? This sounds a lot like a juice problem. I'd certainly be using 400W for this How many HDDs/CD-ROMs/cards are you running with this system? Last ditch, have you tried holding the mouse by the cable and hitting the monitor repeatedly with it?

err are you running a x-over cable from the server to the hub? It should be reserved for PC to PC or Hub/Switch to Hub/Switch.
Patch cable should traditionally read:
w/o, o, w/g, b, w/b, g, w/br, b
If your pins were the same at both ends I suppose it might work, but I'm not sure. Anyone...

Boot with 98 startup disk.
Run fdisk.
Delete all partions (probably non-dos partitions).
Reboot with Win2k cd and create your primary partition to install into as 10Gb.
When Windows in running you can create another partition of 10Gb in disk manager.
