Does anyone have any advice on automating windows updates and hotfixes into a image creation process. Management of course wants us to be able to boot with a CD then walk away and come back to a image on our newest standard machine. We are using a combination of unattend, SDA and so forth. We...
WE are having issues in our office with the SMS Client being installed on XP workstations. 2 workstations could be directly next to each other on the same subnet, same machine type basically identical and one machine will receive the client and the other will not.
Is there any...
I'm working on a unattend.txt file for Windows XP professional. It is pretty muich finished up except I can't find a way to get around the "Windows XP Professional Setup"screen. It is the screen that asks you to choose a partition to install on with Enter=Install , D=Delete and F3 =...
I use the -quiet command line switch with sysprep but when sysprep is run it still shows the different splash screens that the install is up too. Even though it doesn't prompt the users for answers which is good. THe user will see more progress than I would like. Is there a way to eliminate...
I working on distributing an application update in my company using SMS.
The managers would like the users to kick off the install with an OK button, but if the users are using other applications (often 4 at once), the OK button is sitting in the background.
Is there a way to bring the...
I'm trying to install tweakui that was installed on a 98 machine. It is not working. Is there a tweakui specifically for Windows 2000? Is so where can I find it?
Thank you in advance
We are currently testing a distribution of a NAV client update. The application installs successfully if run from the Control Panel/Advertised Programs.
But if the advertisement is set to run "mandatory" and a user logs in after this "mandatory"time we run into problems...
I think your out of luck. I'm almost positive I was told it can't be changed and I couldn't find anything about changing the default 5 minute time. The only option is using reboot or shutdown within the script itself. This may be a different case in SMS 3.
We are working on a script here to install the latest version of NAV. There are 2 other small applications we need to install first, reboot the machine then continue with the script from where we left off.
Could anyone shed some light on how to do this or give me some pointers?
Has anyone ever seen a case where a Collection goes from a number like lets say 90 to 0? If so is it caused by a corrupted file.
BTW there are no signs of problems in system status. THe server itself appears to be OK when I logged on and checked Event Viewer. Are there any utilities I could...
The program properties are configured to "run once for first user who logs on". So I don't think that is the problem.
So far the application has run 3 times on one users machine and twice on a couple other users. Most users it has only run once. Any other ideas? Is the a file or...
Every once in a while for no noticable reason a package that has run on a users desktop already runs again. Its as though SMS is not seeing that it already ran. The only thing we have been able to do is to expire the advertisement, but the problem with this is every user doesn't receive the...
