    Actually we tried with a butt set and an analog phone. Both came up sounding like hell. Looks like it is the ASM afterall. UGH.

    Yes, and that was my first guess as well. However, I just installed that ASM two weeks ago. Brand new, out of the box. Faxes were working just fine until the T1 was switched to the PRI.
